Lesson Plans for week of 10/5-10/9
No vocab this week. HOWEVER, if you scored lower than you would have liked on the 8/28 vocab quiz, you have a chance to retake the quiz this coming Friday. The vocab words will be listed on the board Monday, or you can find them in the word bank on the quiz passed back to you from 8/28. A retake can only help your, not hurt your grade.

Monday - Quickwrite in Composition Notebook
"What would you save if your house were on fire and you had only five minutes to get out?"
Anne Bradstreet bio information and read "Upon the Burning of our House". pg. 114
Tuesday - Journal prompt in Composition Notebook:
What is it that keeps you "in line"? Is it fear? Vanity? Knowledge? Write a response.
Jonathan Edwards bio information and read "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God" (partial) famous sermon in 1741. Fill in Mind Map while we read with any questions, observations that someone in the audience might have thought.
Wednesday - complete Edwards' piece, and hand in Mind Map.
Info/Video Hysteria and Mob Mentality in preparation for "The Crucible".
Thursday - Historical Background information about "The Crucible"/Handout
Friday - Vocab quiz/Hand in vocab depiction OR text use.

Monday - Pick 5 vocab words from list, and create a sentence for each one. Be sure to include context clues in your sentences.
Background information to Mary Rowlandson's captivity narrative. Each student reads a section from the narrative by choosing a few highlights from passage provided.
Tuesday - from Of Plymouth Plantation (chronicle by William Bradford), pg. 98 Author info. Text on pg. 100-106 questions pg. 107 #1-3, 6-8. Hand in at end of hour.
Wednesday - Upon the Burning of Our House - Poetry by Anne Bradstreet pg. 114-115.
Journal writing: What would be the two most important items you would save if your house were burning? Be able to support why you choose those particular items.
Thursday - Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God - by Jonathan Edwards pg. 120-125. Complete Mind Map ( to be provided)while listening to/following along with text. Due at end of hour.
